Candle Types:
Tapers or Dinner Candles
Our hand-dipped tapers melt at 170 degrees F (77 C), summer temperatures presenting no problems. They burn one inch per hour and do not drip if there is no breeze or draft.
Pillars or Cylinders
The Candle Factory's pillars melt at 140 degrees F (60 C). The 3" pillars burn about one-tenth inch per hour. They should be burned at least 3 hours each time they are lit so the wick will not "drown out". Give them a quarter turn from time to time so they will burn evenly in a breeze. Keep match sticks and other foreign matter out of the candle as they will cause a large flame and will melt the candle. If the wick "drowns out", cut the candle off even with the wick and dig out a saucer shape around the wick.
Decorative Pillars
The Candle Factory decorative pillars have a scented core that melts at 140 degrees F (60 C). and a shell that is unscented (for better color) and melts at 170 degrees F (77 C). Only the core burns in the larger pillars allowing you to use votive candles as refills. Let the votive candle burn out and remove the metal clip before inserting a new candle. The above suggestions for pillars apply to decorative pillars also.
Candles in Glass
Only votive candles with metal clips should be burned in glass, and The Candle Factory votive candles may be used for this purpose. Allow candles to burn out and remove the metal clip before inserting a new candle. When lighting the candle, avoid allowing the match flame to touch the side of the glass, and do not drop match sticks into the glass. Do not pick up the glass while the candle is burning.
The above suggestions help keep the flame from the side of the glass and help prevent the possibility of cracking it. The wick should be kept as nearly in the center of the glass as possible. Add a few drops of water to the glass before adding the candle.
Using Simmer'n Scents as a Candle
To use the Simmer'n Scents,
place the tabbed wick in a votive holder and begin pouring the pellets in
around the wick. When the wick is stable, you can release it and continue
filling your holder to the appropriate level. You can of course use
different sized holders and not just votive holders, just make sure your
wick is long enough to light when the holder is filled.
Different Simmer'n Scents fragrances and colors can be mixed to create wonderful visual and olfactory displays.
Shapes & Things
Our Shapes & Things candles are not recommended to be burned. If burned, these candles must be placed on or in a protective surface. They are made from the same quality materials we use in our other products, but the unusual molded shapes cause the candle to burn irregularly.
Never Leave A Burning Candle Unattended!
Never let candle burn down within 2", of candle ring.
